The 3's made the journey down the M6 this weekend to take on Haslington.
Fresh off the back of some exciting T20 cup games, the team were full of confidence and optimism ahead of the 2022 season.
After winning the toss, BCC decided to bat on an excellent looking pitch. The sun was out and the to 4 did an excellent job of rotating the strike and building a platform. It was great to see father and son duo, Steve and Hugh McGarry playing well together in the lineup.
A key partnership in the middle overs from James Moran (38 off 36) and Richard Malkin (21 off 32) saw Bowdon build their score to 108-6 before a superb knock from James Sharman (47* off 47 balls) - supported very well by the tail enders, saw Bowdon reach an excellent total of 186 - 9. It was a fine knock from James, who came very close to his first ever open-age 50! It was also a great example of the value of batting through your allotted overs.
In reply, Haslington were pinned back early, losing the opening batsmen to some tight bowling from the opening bowlers Toby and Anay. Cormac Currid stepped in to deliver some fantastic leg spin and take 3 wickets on the day, supported well by some consistent bowling from Richard and Steve. James picked up 2 late wickets in his first over to cap off a great day for him along with some excellent off spin from Alex Gawne. Honourable mentions must go to Ash who took a fantastic catch behind as well as Steve McGarry who plucked a brilliant slip catch to remove one of the openers.
Next week the 3's are at home o take on Bredbury
